A Change of Heart

Why Are Our Hearts Becoming More and More Hurried?
Have you ever felt that people today are becoming increasingly rushed and impatient?
Why is that happening?
When we take a closer look, we realize that many of us are constantly chasing something. We are overwhelmed with responsibilities, pressured by deadlines, and burdened by life’s challenges. We want to escape difficult situations as quickly as possible, achieve success sooner, and find happiness faster than ever before.
As these thoughts continue to build, our hearts gradually become more hurried.
The more hurried we become, the less consideration we often have for others. Because we are focused on our own urgency, we lose the patience to understand another person’s situation.
Even when we choose to be considerate, we may secretly hope everything will be over quickly. We may offer kindness, but expect others to respond immediately. In a world where everything moves faster every day, our hearts have begun to follow that same speed.
However, the first heart we need to care for is our own.
We should learn to step back and observe ourselves as if we were an outside observer. We need to comfort ourselves, calm our anxieties, and intentionally create peace within our hearts.
To do that, we must continue learning and gaining wisdom about the nature of the mind and the principles of life. Among all the lessons we can learn, one stands above the rest: choosing to consider others before ourselves.
When we genuinely care about others, our own hearts naturally become calmer and more stable.
A hurried heart makes us speak too quickly. It causes us to become impatient more easily, and even our acts of kindness can become rushed. We expect immediate understanding and immediate results.
But people are not machines.
Everyone needs time to listen, to understand, to process emotions, and to make thoughtful decisions.
When we approach others with impatience, they often become anxious and hurried as well. As a result, misunderstandings increase, mistakes become more frequent, and emotional wounds grow deeper.
That is why we sometimes need to slow down.
Take one step more slowly.
Wait a little longer.
Try to understand a little more.
Choose consideration over urgency.
When our hearts are peaceful, those around us also feel more at ease. A calm heart gives others the time and space they need to think clearly, express themselves honestly, and feel respected.
In the end, what we need most in this fast-moving world is not the ability to move faster, but the wisdom to slow our hearts.
Today, try taking just one slower step.
Choose patience instead of haste.
Choose understanding instead of pressure.
Choose consideration instead of urgency.
As our hearts become calmer, our relationships grow stronger. And when consideration becomes our habit, our lives become warmer, healthier, and filled with greater peace.
A peaceful heart creates peaceful relationships, and a considerate heart makes the world a better place—one person at a time.
